After showcasing their artistic skills on canvas and pottery, participants at Spandan 2016, inter-collegiate festival, dabbled with colours on the T-shirts on Wednesday on the main JIPMER campus.
Nearly 38 students, especially medicos from different colleges across India, indulged in colours. With no specific theme given to the participants, they let loose their imagination to weave beautiful art forms on the tees.
Each participant chose a different theme.

Holding paint brushes, the students expressed ‘freedom’, ‘stop violence against women’, ‘you live only once’, and caricatures of various concepts.
These T-shirt paintings were to be decided based on the expression of theme, neatness of presentation, colouring, and design and overall impact.
This was followed by a “sketching” competition at the main auditorium. At least 24 students from different colleges took their pencils to sketch choosing from four themes of ‘rage’, ‘once upon a time’, ‘magic lamp’, and ‘we are one’.

At the mini auditorium, JIPMER Academic Centre, students played dumb charades game on Wednesday afternoon. Not just dumb charades, Spandan 2016 had organised debate competitions and the first place went to Rohit Jain and Athira Warrier of KMC, Manipal.
Other games included ‘shipwreck’, ‘turncoat’, ‘just a minute’ and ’90 seconds’.
Dance competition
From classical to western and solo to group dance, students from Puducherry, Bengaluru, Manipal, Pune, and many other cities danced their way at the ‘Chorea Night’ on Tuesday.
Dancing to classical, western, and movie songs, the participants mesmerised the audience at the
Rahul of Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, and Anuska of JIPMER bagged the first place in western and Indian solo dance respectively.
The Mount Carmel College took away the first place for the “duet dance” while AFMC won in the Indian non-theme dance.
The first prize for the theme dance went to Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
