Programme on Civil Registration System held

A one-day training programme on Civil Registration System (CRS) was hosted for registration functionaries under the auspices of the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, Local Administration Department.

The resource persons included L. Mohamed Mansoor, Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, M.H.R. Kashimi, Joint Director, Census Operation, J. Arthur, former Deputy Director and Additional District Registrar of Births and Deaths, and M. Nadarajan, Deputy Director (Statistics), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Puducherry.

According to R. Chitra, Additional District Registrar of Births and Deaths, LAD, the resource persons explained the legal provision of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1969 and the Puducherry Registration of Births and Deaths rules 1999.

They also clarified the queries raised on Civil Registration by the participants.

Nearly 70 officials attended the programme, sources said.
