The government has constituted a Centralised Admission Committee-Postgraduate (CENTAC-PG) to regulate the task of admissions to various postgraduate degree courses in government and unaided private professional colleges in the Union Territory for 2016-17.
An order from the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education said the courses covered are engineering M. Tech. M.Sc., M. Phil, M.C.A. and M.B.A. offered by the Puducherry Engineering College and various private professional institutions in the UT. The seats are offered by the Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry; Bharathiyar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikal; Christ College of Engineering and Technology, Puducherry; Christ Institute of Technology, Puducherry; Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, Puducherry; Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology, Puducherry; RVS Institute of Management Studies and Computer Applications, Karaikal, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Puducherry and Pope John Paul II College of Education, Puducherry.

Education Secretary is the chairman of the committee and six others, including the Director of Higher and Technical Education, are members. In order to coordinate and regulate various activities connected to admission, T. Sundararajan, principal, Pondicherry Engineering College will be the convener of CENTAC –PG 2016-17, and R. Manoharan will be the coordinator for M.Tech., M.Sc., and M.Phil. E. Ilavarasan of Pondicherry Engineering College will be the coordinator for M.C.A and A. Selvaraju will be the coordinator for M.B.A. and coordinator in-charge for counselling and admission of the respective courses.
The government quota seats in private institutions will be filled only with candidates from the UT and the actual number of seats will be known at the time of counselling, the order said.
