Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy has sought a detailed statement from the Chief Secretary on the financial position of the government.

The Cabinet met on Tuesday evening and discussed the financial situation of the government. Chief Secretary Manoj Parida and other top officials were present at the meeting.

Later talking to reporters here, Mr. Narayanasamy said, “We elaborately discussed various issues relating to the financial condition of the government.

The revenue of UT Government and the financial support from Union Government, market borrowings, non-plan expenditure were thoroughly deliberated.

We have asked Chief Secretary to submit a detailed statement on financial position of the government soon.”

The Chief Minister added that the Cabinet also discussed steps to be taken to increase the revenue of the government.

“We also want to ensure public sector undertakings run profitably,” said Mr. Narayanasamy.

He also said he would meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and would appeal to them to salvage the Union Territory from its debts.

The Chief Minister said the government would ask the Centre to release pending funds for Thane Cyclone Relief and flood relief measures.
