The Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) on Wednesday arrested three persons, including a village administrative officer, in the fake certificate scam case.

The CB-CID police have registered cases against 26 persons, including revenue officials, six students and their parents and agents who acted as mediators between the officials and the students.

Police sources said Seshachalam had issued fake certificates of nativity to C. Dhyaneswaran of Sivakasi, A. Kanimozhi of Villupuram and T. Subhashini of Vazhudavoor in Tamil Nadu.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ramamoorthy, an agent, helped one of the students get fake certificates, while Murugasamy provided his family ration card and other documents to make it out that a student had taken his house on rent.
