Zomato delivery woman is repeat traffic offender: Vashi police

The Zomato delivery woman, who was arrested for verbally abusing traffic officials, being taken to the police station on Tuesday.

A day after a Zomato delivery woman was arrested for verbally abusing traffic officials, the Vashi police wrote to officials of the food delivery app to take action against her.

Assistant police inspector Mahesh Shrirao said, “During interrogation, the woman said she was booked for drunk driving at APMC a few months ago. She was also fined recently for riding her bike without wearing a helmet and not having proper documents. She claimed that the RTO had once fined her. We will be gathering all records of her previous cases.”

Priyanka Mogre (27) was arrested after Dr. Binu Varghese, a social activist from Thane, tweeted a video of her misbehaviour and tagged the Navi Mumbai Police’s official handle.

Mr. Varghese said, “After the incident on August 8, the police filed a non-cognisable offence and left her. When the video went viral, I spoke to the DCP and tweeted the video. The police took note of it and then registered a FIR.”

On Tuesday, the accused was produced before the Belapur court and remanded in judicial custody.
