Man snatches chain after following her from bus stop

Navi Mumbai: A 60-year-old woman from Roadpali, Kalamboli, was robbed by a man at knifepoint inside her building on Sunday evening.

Vrushali Masurkar, a resident of Giriraj Enclave in sector 20, was returning from a religious meeting. She got down from the bus at Roadpali and started walking towards her building. The accused, who was behind her on a bike, stopped at the gate and asked if the society has a watchman to which she said no.

“The accused also entered the society after her and went to the first floor where she resides. At knifepoint, he threatened her and snatched her mangalsutra worth ₹50,000,” an officer from Kalamboli police station said.

According to the police, the society does not have a watchman, but has CCTV cameras that have captured the accused.

Since he was wearing a helmet, his face could not be seen. “We are checking CCTV footages in nearby areas to find out the accused’s motorbike number,” said the officer.
