Accused abused her for past two years

The APMC police have arrested a 38-year-old man for raping his live-in partner’s 17-year-old daughter for the past two years.

The girl had gone missing in November and her mother filed a complaint with the Vashi police, who then registered a kidnapping case as the victim was a minor. The Vashi police traced her to a friend’s house.

Satish Nikam, senior police inspector, APMC police station, said, “The girl’s parents had separated 10 years ago and she was sent to live with a relative in Kalyan. In 2014, Anil Jadhav, an auto driver, started living in with her mother. When she turned 15, her mother brought her back home from Kalyan. In July 2016, Anil raped the girl when her mother was at work.”

The police said that the accused threatened the girl and raped her repeatedly. When she turned 17, the girl’s mother sent her to work as a maid at a house at Sector 17 in Vashi. Mr. Nikam said, “When Anil continued to abuse her after she returned home from work, the girl began staying at her employer’s house. She decided to take refuge in her friend’s house when she got fed up of working.”

On December 8, the APMC police registered a case against Mr. Jadhav and arrested him under Sections of 376 (rape) and 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code, and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). He has been remanded in police custody till November 13.
