Navi Mumbai: After 20 days, Kharghar Ekta Mitra Mandal on Sunday called off the strike following an agreement with the Taloja auto union to allow them to use four stands in Kharghar. The meeting was facilitated by Peasants and Workers Party leader and ex-MLA Vivekanand Patil and MLC Balaram Patil.
“We have 22 auto stands of which four will be exclusively used by the Taloja union. The stand outside Kharghar railway station, which became the subject of dispute, will be accessed by us, and they will be allowed to wait near the subway outside the station,” Kesarinath Patil, president, Mitra Mandal, said.
The stands near D Mart, Pranam Hotel, Vastu Vihar Society, and Hiranandani in Kharghar will be used by the Taloja union.

Taloja corporator Aziz Patel said this is an arrangement for 10 days. “If it seems good for the Taloja union, it will be made permanent. As of now, both parties have agreed to this.”
On November 21, following a clash, the police arrested 15 auto drivers from the two unions. They went on a strike and called off on November 29 after the drivers got bail. The RTO and the police granted permission to the Taloja union to do business in Kharghar following which, the Kharghar union again went on a strike on December 1.
