Accuses Fadnavis of not taking action

Mumbai: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu Khan on Sunday expressed her desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the builder who threatened her family, is out of jail, and despite assurances, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has not taken any action.

Mr. Modi is scheduled to visit the State on December 18. Builder Samir Bhojwani had falsely claimed ownership of the two plots on which Mr. Kumar’s bungalow was built in Pali Hill of Bandra.

On Sunday, her request was shared on Mr. Kumar’s official Twitter account. “Request from Saira Banu Khan: The Hon’ble @PMOIndia Shri @narendramodi Sir, Land Mafia Samir Bhojwani released from jail. No action taken despite assurances by CM @Dev_Fadnavis. Padma Vibhushit betrayed, threatened by money and muscle power. Request meeting with you in #Mumbai,” the tweet said.

In January, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police had registered a case of cheating against Mr. Bhojwani for allegedly trying to grab the bungalow of the actor, after Ms. Banu filed a complaint. He was arrested in April in another ₹300-crore land grab case at Aksa Beach.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (EOW) Parag Manere told The Hindu that Mr. Bhojwani had secured bail in both the cases, and was out of jail two months ago. “In case he threatens her, she should file another complaint,” he said.
