Reliance Energy restored power supply to Siddharth Colony in Chembur on Friday after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the firm that the residents would clear the pending dues within three months.
Power supply had been cut off to 3,250 households in the locality on June 19 after residents failed to pay dues amounting to ₹63 crore, which have been pending for the past 10 years. The power supply was however restored every night in the colony on humanitarian grounds.
“Power was restored on Friday after the residents assured us that they would submit a written undertaking on Saturday saying that all the pending dues would be cleared within the next three months,” a Reliance Energy official said.

The residents claimed that the colony was to be redeveloped and the builder had assured them that he would pay their pending bills. When he did not fulfil the promise, the residents approached Mr. Fadnavis.
