Deputy Inspector General Sunil Paraskar, booked in a sexual assault case, was questioned for nearly six hours on Saturday at the Byculla unit of the Mumbai crime branch in South Mumbai.

On Friday, a Mumbai sessions court had directed the officer to remain present before the investigators on Saturday. The order was passed during the hearing of an anticipatory bail application filed by Mr. Paraskar on July 25.

On July 24, a Mumbai based Gladrags model had lodged a complaint accusing Mr. Paraskar of raping and molesting her between November 2013 and March 2014.

According to a senior police officer, Mr. Paraskar was grilled about his meeting and telephonic conversations with Rizwan Siddhique, former lawyer of the victim.

On Thursday, the prosecution had produced Call Data Records between Mr. Paraskar and Mr. Siddhique, claiming that the former was influencing the witness and tampering with the evidence.

When questioned about their meeting on July 18 in suburban Mumbai and what actually transpired between them, Mr. Paraskar said Mr. Siddhique never discussed about the alleged sexual assault and that it was only limited to the legal notice. He also denied trying for an out-of-court settlement with the model, a source said.

The court will pronounce its order on the bail application on August 12.
