While 803 students from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and 1,520 students from the Pune region filled their forms on the first day, demonstration sessions for principals and technicians of secondary schools from MMR will begin on Tuesday.

The online admission procedure for the FYJC colleges is divided into two. While the first half begins before the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) are declared, the second part of the procedure begins later. The Part-1 form will be available till the SSC results are declared and Part-2 of the procedure starts.

With 39 guidance centres in the region, admission officials have urged students to not visit cyber cafes to fill their forms and stick to schools or guidance centres for finishing the procedure.

In Part-1 of the admission procedure, students have to enter their SSC seat numbers on the portal. For the students belonging to the State board, their information will be automatically displayed on the screen, which they need to carefully check. Students whose information is not displayed have to manually fill in the details. The fed or displayed information has to be verified and approved from the school or guidance centre.

“It is important for students to carry all the required documents for approval and a printed copy of the approved form must be kept for further use. The students are also advised to check ‘My Status’ on the portal,” an official from the office of the Deputy Director of Education, Mumbai, said.

The forms that are not approved will be considered as incomplete and such students cannot fill in the Form 2 that will be released after the SSC results are declared in June. Students can make changes to the first form with the help of the school or guidance centre only, for which they need to furnish the relevant documents and resubmit the corrected online admission form.

For the SSC students, the Part-2 form will display total marks and percentage of the best of five subjects, while students of the other boards will have to enter marks manually. A stream – Arts, Commerce, Science – will then have to be chosen, along with the medium of instruction. Students can list a minimum of one college and a maximum of 10 as their preferences once the result is out. In the second part of the admission procedure, students need to carefully fill in the codes assigned to each college mentioned in the booklets provided by the authorities.

There are 846 colleges in the MMR region and 2,82,000 booklets related to admission and related procedures have been distributed.

While demonstration sessions to ease the procedure will begin on Tuesday for State board school authorities, a meeting of all principals of the other boards has been called on June 4.

“A meeting of all principals of ICSE, CBSE, IGCSE and IB schools in the MMR along with their computer experts will be held on June 4 in Mumbai,” the official said.
