The Special Investigation Agency (SIT) on Monday filed an application before the Esplanade court seeking a non-bailable warrant against five police personnel of Haryana in connection with the staged encounter of Sandeep Gadoli.

On May 28, the Maharashtra Police had informed the Supreme Court that they had invoked murder charges against five Haryana Police personnel involved in the alleged shootout at Hotel Airport Metro on February 7. The body of Gadoli is still lying in the mortuary as his family is refusing to perform the last rites till a judicial probe is conducted.

The SIT told the apex court that it would add charges of murder, destruction of evidence, giving false evidence, giving false information to public servant, criminal conspiracy, and relevant sections of the Arms Act against the five cops and three civilians. The court is likely to hear the case on June 1.
