FIR against MIAL officials after court order

February 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MUMBAI:

The Sahar police on Friday filed an FIR against top officials of the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) after the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri issued orders to the effect. The court issued the directive after hearing a case filed by activist Vishwas Bhamburkar, who alleged forgery and serious security lapses at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport’s T2 terminal and its multi-storey car park.

In his complaint, Mr Bhamburkar has alleged that operations at the T2 parking lot were started without a security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Police said an FIR under relevant IPC sections for cheating and forgery was filed against MIAL Chairman GV Sanjay Reddy, CEO Rajeev Jain, AK Sharma, then Regional Executive Director (Western Region), Jayant Dasgupta, General Manager, ATC, VSP Chinson, GM (Aero), Western Region, Airports Authority of India and BS Tripathi, Senior DCOS, BCAS.

“BCAS norms clearly state there should be a distance of at least 100m between the terminal building and car parking area. In Mumbai, this has not been followed in the development of the new terminal building and the car park is a part of the terminal building ,” the complaint said.
