CM ropes in Darade to boost Metro work

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, keen on completing the multiple Mumbai Metro corridors before the end of his tenure, has roped in Pravin Darade, a 1998 batch IAS officer, known for expediting the Nagpur Metro work. Mr Darade has been appointed Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

He has replaced Sanjay Sethi, who has been posted as the CEO, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. Mr. Darade, who holds a Masters in Structural Engineering from IIT, Mumbai, and has in the past handled significant assignments such as Director General of Maharashtra Energy Development Authority, Pune; Chairman of the Nagpur Improvement Trust; and Collector of Kolhapur and Nagpur.

He was instrumental in pushing through and expediting the Metro projects in Nagpur. MMRDA said in a statement, said: “Mr. Darade’s appointment to MMRDA is considered crucial as the Authority is committed to construct a Metro network for the city of Mumbai.”

He will continue to hold the post of Secretary to the CM. The CM is also the chairman of MMRDA, which is implementing dozens of road and Metro rail projects.
