Poncho Hospitality Pvt Ltd, the promoters of Box8, on Saturday denied the charge that the food supplied to the International Indian Model United Nations (IIMUN) conference caused food poisoning, and blamed the organisers for the incident.
The company claimed that their internal investigation did not find any deficiency in preparation, packing and delivery of food that was supplied to the conference. “The organisers delayed distribution of the packaged food, which might have affected the quality of the food, if not stored properly or consumed within reasonable time,” the company said, adding that the students were also served packaged food and soft drinks supplied by other vendors.
Rishabh Shah, founder and president of IIMUN, said there was no possibility of the food being kept in storage as there was hardly enough space. “The food was served between 11 am and 12:30 pm at three centres and at KC College, it was served between 2 pm and 2:30 pm.” Mr Shah said he intends to file a criminal case against Box8 next week.
