The Civil and Sessions Court on Friday granted protection from arrest to four trustees of the Peoples Improvement Trust accused of illegally demolishing Ambedkar Bhavan in Dadar.
Judge D.P. Satawalekar granted anticipatory bail to Nagsen Sonare, Shrikant Gaware, Abhay Banbole and Uttamrao Bodhawade on execution of a bail bond of Rs 50,000 each with one or more sureties. They are all booked under IPC sections 142 (being member of unlawful assembly), 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), 144 (joining unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapon), 146 (rioting), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 457 (lurking house trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 395 (punishment for dacoity). All the offences were registered with Boiwada Police Station.
The court has directed them to make themselves available to the police for interrogation whenever required until the filing of the charge sheet. It said the petitioners shall not directly or indirectly make any inducement, threat or promise to any other person acquainted with the facts.
