Murud API killed in rail accident

Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Tamboli (44), in-charge of Murud police station in Raigad, was killed in a railway accident on Saturday. His body was found beside the tracks around 4.20 p.m., and identified by the Panvel GRP on reaching the spot. Tamboli, stayed at Murud while his wife, also an API with the Thane Anti Corruption Bureau and their 17-year-old son stayed at Khandeshwar.

“On Friday, he came home to stay with family, as he was feeling unwell, after taking sick leave for two days. The accident happened near a pathway which is used by people to cross the tracks. To one side of the tracks was the building where Tamboli stayed. Prima facie, there is nothing suspicious and we have registered an accidental death case with Panvel GRP,” Assistant Commissioner of police, Railway, Sunil Patil said.
