Mumbai: State Education Minister Vinod Tawde on Friday remained non-committal on setting a deadline for the announcement of results of final year exams held by the Mumbai University.
On a day when Shiv Sena threatened a breach of privilege motion against the Chief Minister, and hundreds of students shaved their heads in protest, Mr. Tawde said that in certain courses, 96% of evaluation has been completed, but the onus to declare the result lies on the examination board of the university. Even with 90% assessment complete, results can still be declared, he said.
“We will declare all results soon. As of now, we have appointed a new agency for the re-evaluation process and we will give provisional admission to students on the basis of a common admission test,” said Mr. Tawde.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Vice-Chancellor met the Governor on Friday to apprise him of the situation.
Sena leader Aditya Thackeray said three deadlines have already passed. “Why does the government want to continue with the online marking system? Unless the students get the mark sheet in their hands, what is the point of all these announcements,” he said. He said the Mr. Tawde should resign.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, 354 of the 477 results have been declared as on August 17. The Governor and CM later said students who miss out on admissions to a course because and are later found to be eligible will be considered for admission in supernumerary seats for this year, in consultation with the apex regulatory body concerned.
