A 14-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from near his house in Ahmedabad and brought to Mumbai managed to escape and make his way to Thane. The Thane police found the boy and reunited him with his parents on Friday. The Gujarat police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
The Naupada police station found the boy, Dilip Mahato, crying near the Thane railway station on Thursday while patrolling the area and took him to the police station.
An officer said, “The boy told us that he was playing in an open ground near his residence in Ahmedabad when a group of men grabbed him, forced him into a car and made him unconscious by applying some chemical to his face. When he regained consciousness several hours later, he was in a train with the men and eight to ten boys of his age group. The kidnappers threatened the boys with dire consequences if they tried to raise an alarm.”

Dilip said the group got off the train at the Mumbai Central railway station and he and another boy managed to run away. The two boys went in separate directions and Dilip, after making short journeys on various trains, found himself at the Thane railway station.
The police then obtained contact details of his parents and called them, who confirmed that their son was missing since Thursday. The Nikol police, in whose jurisdiction Dilip stays, were also contacted. They confirmed that a kidnapping case in his name was registered and sent a team to Thane.
