Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said that he was hopeful that Maharashtra elections would see the same fate for the party as it did at the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking at the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Mr. Thackeray said that he had a lot of dreams to fulfil if the alliance came to power. “We are already heading the municipal body. We have also come to power at the Centre. There is a lot to be done in Maharashtra,” he said.
“Maharashtra is responsible for 21% industrial production in the country. It has the highest GDP and a 40% income tax contribution. Despite this, the state is lagging behind. There is a deficit of electricity, load shedding is still a reality in many places,” he said.

Mr. Thackeray also spoke of the Mahalaxmi Race Course not being used to its potential. “There is a 225 acre land right in the heart of the city. We can develop it into a big park like the Hyde Park or Central Park,” he said.
He also said that he was in favour of the coastal freeway, a plan which has been under discussion for a long time. “If that were to materialise, we will make sure that fisherfolk, who are the first residents of the city will not be left out of development. We will keep their interests in mind,” he said.
