Kharghar police have arrested a sweeper of KPC School on Sunday night for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old student.
The sweeper identified as Suryakant Chiklekar (32), a resident of Kharghar, is accused of indulging in oral sex with the victim and inflicting injuries on his private parts. According to the complainant, the incident happened on Friday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. On Friday after the boy came back home, his parents noticed blood stains on his undergarments. The boy said that he had slipped in the bathroom at school. Suspecting something amiss, the father made further enquires and the boy revealed that the sweeper of the school had indulged in oral sex with him.
Senior Police Inspector Dilip Kale of Kharghar Police Station said, “A case was registered on Sunday afternoon after the victim’s father approached us. The accused was arrested by night. The boy is unable to tell the exact time of incident. The victim is a Class II student. His classes are held between 11 a.m. and 2.15 p.m. while the kindergarten classes end by 11 a.m. When the incident happened, there was nobody in the class. The boy has said that the sweeper asked him to accompany him from the third floor to the kindergarten classroom on the ground floor. Once inside the classroom, the sweeper forced himself on the boy. We have arrested the sweeper and conducted a medical test of the victim. We will verify the CCTV footage of the school.”

Chiklekar has been arrested under Section 377 (unnatural sex) of the IPC and Sections 8 (sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
