IB man to head Mumbai crime branch

Inspector-General of Police Atul Kulkarni, a 1990 batch IPS officer with over a decade’s experience in the Intelligence Bureau, took over as the new Joint Commissioner (Crime) of the Mumbai Police on Tuesday.

Mr. Kulkarni replaces his Maharashtra Cadre batchmate and 26/11 braveheart Sadanand Date, who opted for a central deputation post in the Central Reserve Police Force last month. Mr. Kulkarni was serving as Inspector General of Police (Establishment) at the Maharashtra Police headquarters earlier.
