GRP rescues 1,000 on Central, Western line

MUMBAI: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has deployed nearly 100 personnel to help passengers.

More than 1,000 passengers have been rescued by the force in Central and the Western line. Railway officials were too engaged in helping passengers inside local trains or on tracks.

Railway police personnel were seen helping passengers through the rope. Passengers were also rescued with the help of ladders provided by the fire brigade.

The GRP distributed food packets. Samadhan Pawar, DCP, GRP (CR), said, “We have made efforts to rescue, and provide help to the passengers stranded for long hours.”

The number of passengers stuck in the Central and the Harbor line were more than those in the Western Railway. Four passengers died and 12 were injured on railway tracks on Tuesday.
