Despite Haryana episode, our alliance with BJP is strong, says Sena

Referring to the snapping of ties between the Haryana Janhit congress (HJC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana, the Shiv Sena on Monday said that its alliance with the latter in Maharashtra is as strong as before since it is based on the thought of Hindutva.

“The thought of Hindutva was never strong in Haryana and Bihar as it is in Maharashtra. Even the BJP knows it. The people will teach a lesson to whomever, who will try to backstab Hindutva. The tremors of earthquake in Haryana will never reach here (in Maharashtra),” said an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna on Monday.

While the State assembly election is likely to be held in October, the Sena and the BJP are unable to find a solution over seat sharing problems. Following the HJC’s decision the rumours were floating that the Sena will also snap ties with the BJP.

“Power comes and it goes. We seek power for Hindutva and united Maharashtra. But we never compromised with Hindutva for the sake of petty political benefits,” it said.  

The editorial claimed that the rumours of differences between both the parties will continue to float as the State assembly elections are about to be announced. “A number of ill-intended people had thought that the Sena-BJP alliance will break like HJC-BJP alliance. But their wishes will not be fulfilled,” said the editorial, adding that it doesn’t want to comment on the BJP’s strategy with alliance parties in other states.  

The editorial however supported the BJP’s political stand in Haryana following the Lok Sabha elections. “Kuldeep Bishnoi suffered defeat in Haryana despite the Modi wave. It was obvious that the BJP will become aggressive after that and it happened,”

Saamna editorial said.

“The political situation in Maharashtra is different. Shiv Sena is deeply rooted here and we are in our senses. We have already started working to win the assembly. Our friends and enemies should know this,” it said.
