A Mumbai-based couple committed suicide by consuming poison near Pirwadi Dargah in Uran on Thursday.

The victims have been identified as Yusuf Usman Ajam (47), a real estate agent, and his wife, Fehmida Ajam (43). Residents of Dongri, the Ajam couple often visited the dargah in Uran. On Wednesday, the couple visited the dargah and stayed back in the room attached to the shrine and consumed poison.

According to the police, the incident came to light on Thursday morning when workers tried to open the room to clean it. When no one answered repeated calls to open the door, the workers broke down the door. The couple was found dead inside.
