A day after his banner expressing dissent against the government “diktat” on screening of Marathi films was torn down by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, former Mumbai Sheriff Nana Chudasama used another banner to convey his displeasure against the act of vandalism.

The new banner reading “Pen is mightier than sword…. Agitate, debate but don’t vandalise” replaced the earlier one “Promoting Marathi Welcomed, Diktat not Welcomed” which was damaged by MNS activists.

Mr. Chudasama said the protesters’ action was a cowardly one and he would continue to express himself through these banners till the time he dies.

“I was born in Maharashtra and take pride in our culture but no one should impose it on others,” he said. His daughter and BJP leader Shaina N.C. said her father was not opposed to any legitimate voice of dissent whether it was against his own work or a government ruling.

“Only the brave can discuss while the weak indulge in such cowardly acts. I challenge those behind the vandalism to do it again,” she said echoing her father.
