Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) men carry out search in a local train at Churchgate station after a bomb threat call that turned hoax later, in Mumbai on Thursday.

A call warning of a bomb blast at Churchgate railway station on Thursday turned out to be a hoax. Railway Protection Force personnel said its control room received a call around 10.45 a.m. that a bomb would go off at the station.

The RPF and other security agencies launched a search with the Mumbai Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad which lasted for about two and a half hours. “Following the call, we took precautionary measures and security was tightened at the station,” an RPF official said.

The RPF and the Government Railway Police are keeping a close watch at the station and on trains, the official said. “The call was received from an unidentified source. An inquiry is under way,” he said. The Western Railway said security has been stepped up at all stations. Officials are conducting security checks.
