BJP writes to EC over Mumbai flyover inauguration

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday wrote to the Election Commission opposing the inauguration of two major flyovers in Mumbai saying that the Congress will reap undue credit for it.

The MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) will throw open the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road ( SCLR) and the Amar Mahal Junction flyovers to the public by the end of this week.

Calling it a political stunt, BJP leader Ashish Shelar dashed off a letter to the EC claiming that these projects which took over a decade to complete but the state government is in a hurry to inaugurate them just days before the election.

SCLR connects western suburbs to central suburbs of Mumbai. Amar Mahal Junction at Chembur in central Mumbai connects five major roads with Eastern Express Highway, in-turn connecting Central suburbs to South Mumbai
