AAP, NCP slam rally seeking release of Vaibhav Raut

Say this kind of terrorism is unacceptable, cannot be tolerated

Opposition parties in the State have hit out at local right-wing groups protesting for the release of Vaibhav Raut, arrested by the Maharashtra ATS for allegedly planning disruptive activities in the state. While the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) claimed splinter groups who took out a march on Friday have tacit support of RSS and BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party slammed the authorities for giving permission for the march.

“On the one hand they (the BJP) are running the government, on the other they are supporting these right wing groups holding a march in support of a terror suspect. This is dangerous precedent. Not only will it disturb communal harmony, it could destroy the very social fabric of our country,” said senior NCP leader Nawab Malik.

Calling for an immediate ban on the Sanatan Sanstha, an AAP spokesperson said, “This is a standard operating procedure of the Sanatan Sanstha, when anyone related to them, is caught red-handed. The Maharashtra ATS is a professional and elite arm of the state police. Also, in this case, it is not merely an accusation, but self-incrimination, as crude bombs were recovered, which could have wreaked havoc in the financial capital of the country.” This kind of terrorism of “all hues” is “unacceptable and cannot be tolerated,” said AAP.
