West Bengal needs incinerators for animals: Moon Moon Sen

Stating that incinerators need to be allotted in the State to ensure animal corpses are disposed of in a hygienic manner, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and actor Moon Moon Sen said here on Saturday that crematoriums in the city should allot some space for animal corpses.

Talking about the elephant attacks in Purulia district, she said, “I have been to Delhi and met wildlife conservationist Belinda Wright to discuss man-animal conflict in West Bengal.”

She was interacting with media persons during an event by Humane Society International/India in collaboration with Animal Welfare Board of India and Cape Foundation, Kolkata, which conducted a two-day workshop for animal advocates in the city.

‘Yet to visit Bankura’

Asked about her plans for Bankura, the constituency from where she won the Lok Sabha elections in May, she said, “I will be visiting Bankura on June 30 for the first time as an MP. I am yet to start implementing any plan. However, I have planned setting up covered sheds which will have drinking water facilities for rickshaw pullers. I also want to do something for the traditional

tanti (weavers) of Bankura who have left the district. Right now, I am only listening to appeals and publicising them in Parliament,” she said.

The daughter of the iconic late actor, Suchitra Sen, said she was looking at options to set up a support system for acid attack survivors.
