October 29, 2014 10:47 am | Updated May 23, 2016 03:56 pm IST - Kolkata:

The Trinamool Congress on Tuesday expelled Arabul Islam, former MLA and party’s election manager in South 24 Paragans district . He had, of late, allegedly started working against party interests, challenging its elected representatives and indulging in "extorting randomly."

Mr Islam was a party strongman who had uprooted Communist Party of India (Marxist) few years back from parts of the district almost single-handedly.

In another development, Trinamool MP Sisir Adhikari criticised the party for “huge corruption”, adding to the number of leaders who are turning hostile to the party.
