Three killed in Bardhaman clash

: Three persons were allegedly killed on the wee hours of Monday in a political clash in the Wadi village in the Khandaghosh block.

They were reportedly Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in Bardhaman district of West Bengal. The incident took place due to an alleged faction feud in the ruling party.

“It is a case of lynching. Seikh Sawkat, Seikh Jamaluddin and Layak Arnal were lynched by local villagers. They were taken to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries,” Superintendent of Police of Bardhaman Distrct Kunal Agarwal told

The Hindu . He also said that 15 persons have been detained in the case so far and are being interrogated.

Asked whether the deaths were the result of infighting in the ruling party, TMC district president (rural)in Bardhaman Swapan Debnath neither confirmed nor refuted the reports in this regard. “We have constituted a probing committee to investigate the matter. We demand that the police conduct a swift investigation and arrest the culprits,” Mr. Debnath said.
