The students alleged that average marking was being resorted to and they gheraoed the university’s Controller of Examinations, Dr. Sanatan Das on January 28, university officials said.

Dr. Das then assured the students that a review would be carried out and results were scheduled on February 25. Later the date was changed to February 20.

At this, students feared that the review of their papers were not done properly. Coupled with this there were rumours that there were possibility that many students would loose more marks in the review.
