Days before she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said here on Wednesday that she has shared with the Centre the outcome of her recent visit to Bangladesh.
“After my recent visit to Bangladesh, I have apprised the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, on the Teesta Water issue and Indo-Bangla relations,” she told journalists.
“In my letter to the two leaders, I have also said that we need improved bilateral relation between the two countries,” she added.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to leave for New Delhi on March 8. The remarks made by her ahead of the visit are crucial as the bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh will figure in the talks between the two leaders. She, however, refused to divulge if the Teesta deal would be on the agenda during her talks with Mr. Modi.
Ms Banerjee’s meeting with the Prime Minister is meant to demand debt-waiver for the State.
The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday announced that party’s trade union leader Dola Sen will be its candidate for by-election to Rajya Sabha from the State scheduled on March 20. The seat fell vacant after Srinjoy Bose, a former TMC MP, resigned from the Upper House and party after being released on bail in the Saradha scam.
