: Continuing her tirade against the Prime Minister, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned Narendra Modi’s ‘serial’ foreign trips on Tuesday.

“We have such a government at the Centre that the Prime Minister has gone on foreign trips a dozen times within nine months,” Ms. Banerjee said during a rally in south Kolkata. She also said that the Prime Minister has “forgotten” about the country and the wellbeing of the people.

Referring to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015, Ms. Banerjee alleged that the BJP-led Government at the Centre wanted to snatch the land of farmers.

Tall claims

“When we protested against the Land Bill, they made tall claims of working for the betterment of farmers. These are nothing but lies. They have not done anything for farmers,” said Ms. Banerjee.

Curiously even though she continues to criticise the Centre, the Trinamool Congress voted in favour of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill, 2015 in the Rajya Sabha.

Ms. Banerjee also accused the Centre of blocking funds of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. “They (the Centre) want to change the name of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and hence they are not releasing the funds,” she said.

Issuing a veiled warning to the Opposition parties for slandering the Trinamool Congress (TMC), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked them not to mistake their tolerance as weakness.

“There is a limit to falsehood and insult. Just because you can’t fight us politically, you have no right to insult us,” she said.
