A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR against a dozen Trinamool Congress leaders in the Narada news sting case, the Kolkata police is tightening its grip on the party's Rajya Sabha MP K. D. Singh.
Senior police officials on Tuesday said that a fresh complaint against the MP has been lodged at the Kalighat police station in south Kolkata.

The charges against Mr. Singh include cheating, criminal conspiracy, breach of trust by a public servant etc.
The first FIR against the MP was lodged at the Bowbazar police station in central Kolkata in March.
Trinamool Congress has already distanced itself from Mr. Singh, with party chairperson Mamata Banerjee saying that nominating him as a Rajya Sabha MP “was a blunder”.

She added that there she had not been in touch Mr. Singh for a long time and that he also maintained a good rapport with the BJP.
What’s the motive?
Journalist Mathew Samuels, who headed Narada, conducted the sting on the Trinamool leaders.
The party MPs are confused why Mr. Singh would commission a sting operation against his colleagues,, who are now facing a CBI probe.
Left, BJP demand action
Meanwhile, following the CBI’s FIR, which was filed on Monday, the Left and the BJP held rallies demanding that those accused in the scam be taken into custody.
“We demand that the tainted Ministers resign from the Cabinet immediately. They have lost the moral right to continue in office. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should immediately remove them from the Ministry,” BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said.
Left Front leaders, including its chairperson Biman Bose and CPI(M) State Secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra, also demanded that those named in the FIR resign immediately and that the agency take them into custody.
The FIR states that there has been no tampering with the videos.
