Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2016, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) seeks to boost the party organisation by making its Kolkata Plenum a grand success.
The party aims at making its Brigade Parade Ground rally, which kicks off the plenum on December 27, a platform to reach out to cadres at the booth level and take on both the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. The plenum will conclude on December 31.
“Our aim is to take the campaign to all the 77,240 polling booths in West Bengal and to have at least one representative from each booth,” CPI(M) State secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said here on Saturday.

The main slogan of the plenum will be: “Remove TMC to save Bengal and oust the BJP to save the country.”
In total, 456 party delegates from across the country will take part in the sessions.
The Brigade rally will be attended by former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, party general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

The State leadership plans to highlight the “burning issues” in West Bengal such as the alleged corruption of Trinamool leaders, crisis in agriculture, lack of employment and crimes against women.
The rally will be led by Mr. Bhattacharjee.
