: The West Bengal government would be providing drinking water pouches to those stranded in flood-ravaged Jammu & Kashmir, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated in a post on a social networking website on Saturday.
“A large section of my brothers and sisters in Kashmir are distressed due to massive floods.
Huge numbers of tourists from different places are also stranded in Kashmir. Many tourists from my State are stranded there as well. In this hour of crisis, we expect everyone to cooperate,” she wrote and expressed hope that people in Jammu & Kashmir would return to their normal lives soon.

The official website of the All India Trinamool Congress said that the State government has decided to send 2 lakh water pouches for people stranded in Kashmir. The party described it as a ‘humanitarian hand of help to the stranded people in Kashmir’.
In June, the Bengal government had announced the setting up of eight drinking water bottling plants across the State. According to a release, a detailed project report for eight bottling plants — in South 24 Parganas, Siliguri, Cooch Behar, Malda, Murshidabad, Purbasthali, Haringhata, and Barrackpore — had been prepared with an estimated cost of Rs. 42.82 crore.
