General Secretary of AITUC urged trade unions in other parts of the country to join them.

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has requested West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ‘to support’ them in the proposed strike on September 2.

“We request Mamata Banerjee to support us in this strike and not be a hindrance because we have a similar objective,” said Gurudas Dasgupta, General Secretary of AITUC.

Eleven trade unions have called a strike in September demanding immediate withdrawal of the land ordinance and proposed amendments in labour laws.
