A protest demanding speedy justice for Korpan Sha, who was allegedly lynched by hostel inmates of Nil Ratan Sircar (NRS) Medical College and Hospital, was held in Kolkata on Thursday.
Eight organisations from different sections of society led the rally, which also saw the participation of eminent social activist Binayak Sen.
Condemning the incident, Dr. Sen regarded it as a “ghastly act.” Referring to the allegation of junior doctors being involved in the lynching of Sha, he said, “If it proves to be true, then it should be a cause of “great concern” for those in charge of higher education.”

The protestors raised slogans demanding an answer from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the lack of progress in Sha’s murder case.
It has been more than two weeks since Sha was lynched, but the police have been unable make any arrests. Sha was allegedly beaten to death by junior doctors on November 16.
The rally started from College Square in Central Kolkata and concluded at the NRS Medical College and Hospital.
