After spending over a week in the State-run SSKM Hospital, West Bengal Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra, arrested in the multi-crore Saradha scam, is likely to be discharged on Monday.
“The medical board has decided to discharge Mr. Mitra. Hopefully, he will be released today [Saturday] or Monday morning,” hospital director Pradip Mitra told presspersons.
Mr. Mitra was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on December 12, but his custody ended on December 19. The Minister has been remanded in judicial custody and later admitted to the hospital. The development comes at a time when Congress leader Abdul Mannan has accused Mr. Mitra of feigning illness and the doctors of conspiring with the ruling Trinamool.
