Dr. A. Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals, India Diabetes Research Foundation, World Diabetes Foundation project, jointly with the Department of School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, conducted a one-day training workshop for high school teachers of Chennai city on August 25.

D. Sabitha, Principal Secretary School Education, Govt. of Tamil Nadu inaugurated the workshop. Prof. A. Ramachandran, Chairman and MD, Dr. A. Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals and President-India Diabetes Research Foundation, presided over the inaugural function. K. Devarajan, Director of School Education; and Dr. C. Snehalatha, Director-Researches, India Diabetes Research Foundation; delivered the special address. As many as 75 teachers participated in the training workshop.

In order to increase inculcating of healthy lifestyle practice among teachers and school students, this workshop was conducted. The teachers who underwent training have agreed to transfer the knowledge gained during the workshop to the students and parents. It is hoped that this intervention might help preventing diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
