Worker falls from wall, dies

A construction worker allegedly slipped and fell from a 10-foot high compound wall on the premises of MGM Dizzee World in Muttukadu on Sunday. He died en-route to hospital.

Kanathur police said the victim was Poornakarti (23), a native of Assam, who was part of a group of workers painting the compound wall of the theme park. Around 3 p.m., he was standing on the wall and working, when he accidentally stepped on to the roof of a toilet nearby. The plastic sheet on the roof gave way and Poornakarti fell on to a stack of tiles that had been stored in the toilet. He suffered severe head injuries and his co-workers were rushing him to a nearby hospital when he succumbed, police said.
