Woman injured in accident

The official car of an IPS officer rammed into a two-wheeler on Kamarajar Salai on Friday night, injuring a 44-year-old woman.

Anna Square traffic investigation sources said the accident took place around 11 p.m. The official car of Rajeev Kumar, IG Establishments, TN police, was being driven by a police driver, Vinod (29) when it knocked down Prabhakaran, a goldsmith, and his wife Kalyani, who was riding pillion, near the Avvaiyar statue. Vinod was driving to the DGP’s office after dropping Mr. Kumar at his residence.

Kalyani suffered a broken leg and bruises and was rushed to Government Royapettah Hospital. Her condition is said to be stable. Prabhakaran suffered minor injuries. A Anna Square police team arrested Vinod, who was later released on bail, sources added.
