Residents are concerned about the poor maintenance of pillar and junction boxes in certain parts of the city.

V.K. Narayanan, a resident of 8th Street Dr. Subbarayan Nagar, Kodambakkam, had a narrow escape from an open pillar box installed in front of an apartment gate. He complained that despite making several representations to the local officials, no steps have been taken to shift the pillar box or properly fit it with a new door.

Similarly, pedestrians using the Mount Poonamallee Road in Nandambakkam show the junction box which poses a danger to passers-by. The junction box, which normally would be fixed on the road margin, has been uprooted and left unattended by the officials to shift the junction box.

S. Arun, a motorist using the Mount Poonamallee Road, said the junction box has fallen down and remains a cause of worry to the pedestrians. He wanted the Tangedco officials to take steps to install the junction box.

A senior official of Tangedco denying pillar or junction boxes were left open said if there are any specific complaints, residents could approach the officials.
