Many residents in West Velachery, which comes under Adambakkam postal limits, find the water in their sumps mixed with sewage.
M. Prabhakaran, a resident of Andal Nagar Extension, West Velachery, Adambakkam Post, says, “For more than 10 days, we have been receiving drinking water mixed with sewage, through the pipelines connected to the sumps.
As a result, we are buying water from tankers. Due to the water crisis, the tankers are not regular; they come only once in two weeks.

Residents of KG Green Meadows Condominiums in Andal Nagar Extension are helping those neighbours who don’t have borewells, by supplying water for purposes other than drinking. They buy canned water for cooking, and drinking purposes.
“We have complained to the authorities at Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) about this, but no action has been taken yet,” N. Siva Kumar, another resident, said.
Residents of A.G.S. Colony, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Andal Nagar, Andal Nagar Extension, and Ram Nagar Extension have been affected by this problem, he added.

The residents are forced to spend more than Rs.1,000 to clean the Metro water receiver sumps, Prabhakaran added.
When contacted, CMWSSB authorities said they were trying to identify the root cause of this problem and promised speedy action.
