‘VHS gives hope to the hopeless’

“The Voluntary Health Services (VHS) is one of the finest institutions that gives hope to the hopeless, be it a child or an adult,” said eminent agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan.

He was speaking at the 50{+t}{+h}anniversary of the Institute of Neurological Sciences, celebrated in the city on Saturday. Neurologist Krishnamoorthy Srinivas, who set up the institute, was also honoured during the event.

N. Murali, co-chairman, Kasturi & Sons Ltd., said more institutions like VHS were needed in society.

“It has emerged as a viable model for healthcare delivery, especially community healthcare,” he said.
