Two arrested for trying to sell idols stolen from temple near Ponneri

The idol wing of the CID on Thursday arrested two brokers who had been planning to sell three Panchaloha idols stolen from a Shiva temple near Ponneri. The idols went missing on May 15 last year.

The idols are worth a few crores of rupees. A few days ago, they were recovered from a place near the temple. Based on information from the persons who had stolen the idols and were arrested last year, Saravana Kumar and Udaya Kumar, who were planning to sell the idols to an antique dealer, were held. — Staff Reporter
